The Gale family were boat builders and mariners at Whitby for over 200 years. Designing and building many fishing boats, schooners and contributing to the development of the lifeboat. Find out more about this important local industry with George Gale. 

One of Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society Wednesday talks, free to members, £2 to non-members. Free seat reservations can be made online and payment for non-members will be taken on the day. Tickets may also be available on the door.
