The Long Dead Stars is where electronic dance poetry meets the wonders of rocks, geology, walking, and stars. Based in Yorkshire, they are passionate about creating music and poetry that celebrates our connection to rocks, ecology, and the dark skies of Whitby and Yorkshire. Their goal is to offer a unique blend of art and science through performances and recordings, connecting with enthusiasts who share our love for the cosmic dance of the universe. Our debut album 'Whitby Mudstone' is available on all music streaming services and on vinyl, and we will be performing the album live as a 'silent disco' (i.e. with headphones) so that you can dance and enjoy the music in the amazing surroundings of museum at the same time.
A special guest appearance as part of Whitby Fossils Day, a limited number of headsets can be pre-booked, with others available to drop in on the day subject to availability. Please arrive no later than 1:20pm for the session as we reserve the right to reallocate headsets after this time. Normal adult admission fee is payable on the day, children are free. We ask that disco attendees remain aware of their historic surroundings during the disco and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration of the session. The session is suitable for all ages. Volume controls are available on each headset. There is no obligation to dance, if you prefer to relax and be absorbed by the music that's fine too - we just want to share the love of geology with you!
